Since a week, Ysalaya has been updated: new java version and new database driver. It is stable, no more server crash during 7 days.
I still wonder why most of the botmaster only create empty bot. It is only for curiosity? Is Ysalaya too much complicated to feed the bot ?
What do you think about the current Ysalaya version?

The futur of chatbot will be great: they will be used to animate website on Internet and on Intranet.
What will happen if a chatbot is able to pump all the content of your website in one shot? and if your chatbot is able to answer to question on your site content in an intelligent way?
Imagine that your chatbot is able to know what you plublished on your website. That's simply means the bot content is made of your website content.
Imagine that your chatbot is able to answer to the visitor questions based on your website content. You will not input one question, one answer, one question, one answer. You will only ask your bot to real-time learn your website content. The answer will be found by the usage of the language.
We beleive that the chatbot futur will be great! People will be able to easily use bot on their website to present themself and to animate their creation with a 24H a day virtual avatar.

We are only at the beginning of the great bot adventure! Like we were ten years ago when Internet started for a larg public. Who know what will happen ... Who knows what the bot will be ...
In the mean time, be patient and tolerant.

All this concept are already inside the current Ysalaya code. Some of them are still under experimentation. The kernel is not really optimized and thus the server could crash...

Ysalaya still have some problems:- The server can be down when viewing the bot content with a lot of entries
- The server can crash when there are many and many different answers to the same question with various combinations like 'like tag' 'keyword'
The code will be optimized in the next month.
If the server crashed when you create your bot,
please come back latter and continue your job.
To turn around this issue, please avoid to view the content
when entering questions and answers.
If the server comes down, there is nothing to do
than to wait that the server is manually restarted.
The Ysalaya bot-hosting code will be improved soon.

Ysalaya is better now: a critical bug has just been corrected. The [Know Me!] feature will not crash the server again!
The website performances are really increased during the bot creation. For example, with the Lucy chatbot, it takes less time to view all the bot content (10 times faster! how is it possible :+). The processor is much less busy during this operation.
Now, botmasters and visitors can play at the same time. It is a minimal requirement for a bot hosting website!
The code will be optimized again in the next weeks.

Hi dear Ysalaya users,
I am very proud that new botmasters register regullary at www.ysalaya.org. And it is a great motivation that visitors come every day to chat with Lucy. The dialogs starts to be interesting, funny and quite 'intelligent'. I improve Lucy almost three times per week.
There is a server overload when several users are connected at the same time: the server falls down! Completely down! And Tomcat (the Java server) needs to be restarted manually. I do my best to optimize the code every week. It is very interesting but quite long.
Use the language is a main advantage of Ysalaya. When the visitor say 'color', the bot could answer about 'red', 'blue' and 'green'. One main target is to simplify the bot creation. One day, the botmaster will be able to enter only answers. And the bot will find its way to reply by linking the visitor's words and the bot's sentences. Botmaster will only write bot knowledge. Everybody will share the language. It is a great project, interesting but quite long... (once again!)
So Ysalaya is alive and will continue!

Hi all,
Lucy had a very bad score in the first test of the www.chatterboxchallenge.com
It is easy to develop a chatbot who can answer to specific question. In this case, it is necessary to enter many many question / answer. It is long and difficult to improve the content, because it is not so easy to imagine the different questions.
Lucy is designed in a different approach: optimize the bot answer to unknown question. The approach is quite different: it is not automatic answer to known question. An unknown question could be totally unknown or could be partially unknown (just a few words are known by the bot).
Well I admit that if the Lucy content could be improved a little with some generic questions then she could be better. Well ... I apologize for this bad score to the first dialog test. I was very busy these days.
Ysalaya is also a bot hosting website. If you enter many and many question and answer, you could have a good score. Try and improve your bot.

Now the botmaster can setup the repeat depth in a dialog.
The repeat depth is a way to answer when the visitor repeat the same thing several times. If yes and if there is some _repeat_ tag in the memory, then the bot will not repeat himself, he will take the answer from one of the possible _repeat_ answers.
Example:
If the repeat depth is set to 2, the dialog could be:
visitor: hello
bot: hi there
visitor: hello
bot: nice to meet you
visitor: hello
bot: what ?
visitor: hello
bot: you repeat yourself!!!
To use this feature go to the dialog page and enter _repeat_ tag as question and enter more than two answer for this specific question.
A specific answer when the user repeats his question, can make the bot more active in the dialog.

Hi, today I add plenty of new features:- Bot sites: Ysalaya is a bot hosting website so the target is to allow the botmaster to pu bot on their website. You can now publish the address of your website where you bot is.
- Bot news: botmasters can write news on their chatbots (ie: update in the memory, new site, and so on
- Bot Comments: the visitors can write comments on the bot, they can write about the dialog with the Ysalaya chatbots
- Bot content: The botmaster can publish some contents to help the other botmaster to start or to improve their bots.
- Bot team: now you can work with friends to create a chatbot. A bot team is a group of users allowed to add, edit, and delete content.
- Private messages: the botmasters can receive private message from users, just communicate together and the world will be better ... :+)

You can design the visitor page for your bot:- The templates are used to understand and to start in a minute. View
- The markers are included to make the page working. View
- Publish your modifications on-line
- Archive up to 10 of your designs
You can now design your bot page as you want. Use your own CSS and fully customized the visitor page of your bot.
There is only a few mandatory markers.
You can always use the Ysalaya default design with all the teach me, know me buttons and so on.
There is light design with only a text for field for the question and the memory of the dialog. |

Now, you can directly enter an HTML link into the bot answer.
In the answer, simply write a link (ie: http://www.ysalaya.org) and the link will be displayed as a classical HTML link in the dialog. http://www.ysalaya.org
You can always use the HTML link syntax with _'_ inside to customize the link. |

The bots reply with smilies into the answer.
Simply enter the smiley code in the answer text like :D and the smiley image will be displayed during the dialog.

The content comes in a text file.
The syntax is the same than for the Upload feature.

The great upload feature is on-line!
From a text file, you can upload the bot content. Simply write your bot content off-line and quietly upload it on the Ysalaya site.
The file syntax is easy- question;answer;
- word;word;word;
You can include all the bot features in the file:- wildcard _*_
- intro text
- repeated questions
- unknown questions
- include words
- exclude words
Memory example:

The file can be a text file or a csv file.
The upload feature is a good way to make it easier to feed the bot.

There are two new tags to deal with specific visitor actions:- _repeat_if a visitor repeats the same question, the bot can answer something special if there is at least one question with the _repeat_tag and one answer to it.
- _unknown_: if the bot is enable to find an answer to a visitor question, and if there is a couple of question with the _unknown_ tag then the bot will say this specific answer.
- _intro_: kind reminder, the _intro_ tag is used to present the bot when the visitor comes in at the first time.
If there are several question / answer with the _repeat_, _unknown_ or _intro_ tag, then the specific answer is randomly taken into the various existing answer according to the tag.
The _repeat_ tag is a way to avoid the visitor to scan the bot content while repeating the same thing or is a way to try to push the visitor somewhere when he/she repeats.
The _unknown_ tag is a way to gently explain that the bot has no answer to the question, it is a way to suggest other questions.
Take care: input many _unknown_ answers to make a good bot.
If you have the _unknown_ tag into the bot, the answers to all the unknown questions will come ONLY from the answer linked to the question with _unknown_ tag.
You can image how it can be if you have only one answer to unknown question! :+)

The new version has great improvment on the kernel: better search of relevant answers. Great visitors features like anonymous teachning and know me button.
The Ysalaya version two is much more easy-to-handdle. The memory and the language are both displayed on the same page. The input interface can be seen at the same time with the content interface. Create and check your works on the same screen. |
